tuesday links

This is the future of photography, right here: The cinemagraph, by Jamie Beck and Kevin Burg. Who knew we were so close to the wizarding world of Harry Potter?

Howard Hotson wields statistics to argue that the UK government is wrong to point to US universities as exemplary models of market-driven academia.

For the entire month of June, University of Hawaii Press is doing a sale on all books they distribute from the Cornell East Asia Series: two books for the price of one (but check the T&Cs).

And if these coffee-warmers do what they claim they do, I’ll nail one to the bottom of every mug in my household.

You know animated GIFs have been around for ages, right?😛 (Also, it appears you have contributed to the downfall of their website – bandwidth limit exceeded)

as the poor guys over at Best Bookmarks write, “The results are stunning, and show that there was more potential in the old animated .gif format than had yet been realized.” do hope they get their website back up soon!
